Two things about this:

1) This is exactly why Harry is my favourite character in the series. He has all my favourite traits that canon!Harry has got. He’s honest, empathetic and speaks his mind. (Being a sarcastic little shit doesn’t hurt.)

And 2) Draco’s expression in the fourth gif gets me every single time. It’s just so genuine and sweet, even if it’s a little sad. Quality acting.

Nope, not crying, haha, nope :’) My feels for this. This has to be the best Drarry scene in all the series.

1) Thank you. I loved doing any scene with Joe, he’s a true gentleman and a damn fine actor.

2) As Brian mentioned, holy god it was cold that night. I think I may’ve been acting at the top of my game because I knew if I messed up… we’d be out there in the cold doing another take.

THE FIVE COLDEST DAYS ON SET

And now, in honour of this warm, inviting summertime we’ve been having… we present The Five Coldest Days On Set

—-

I had two reasons for wanting to film during the winter. 1) I wanted snowy streets, and snow falling in the background, and all the crisp gorgeous shots we could get out of that, and 2) Toronto has baby winters. Little baby winters with slush and little adorable snowfalls that try their best.

But then everything changed when the Polar Vortex attacked.

5. Episode 8: Lizzie and Hargrid vs the Queen of Pentacles

This day started warm, actually, and we we filmed the scenes of Hermione fighting Violet. We were thinking, “Great! Perfect! The snow is white, the air is warm, this is going to be perfect!”

But a little bit of winter goes a long way—as the day grew long in the tooth, the chill started picked up, and eventually we were shivering, trying to get the scene finished. I think my feet may have frozen into my boots, but really I can’t complain, not with Candace and Eric sitting in the wet snow with their thin sweaters.

Not pictured: two cross-country skiers who kept skiing into the frame behind Twaine. Each time we had to wait for them to slooooooowy cross-country ski out of the way…

4. Episode 3: Outside with Tom, the Security Guard, Yaxley, Snap and Loopin

Jeff and I were warm as heck during this shoot! Toasty, toasty! We stalk out in warm, bulky coats (for me, a thick fleece hoodie). We were so comfortable, I’m not sure why I’m even including today in this list!

Oh yeah, it’s because Nick was sick as heck, hours into a bad fever, and he had stand outside shivering, tucking his head into his chest. I have no idea why he showed up for filming, but I’m glad he did.

Damian (the Security Guard) and Richard (Yaxley) at least only had a short set of shots, and could run inside to warm up. Nick, the poor guy, had to stand outside for the whole set of the shots, and this was a cold day

3. Episode 3: Outside with Hermione and Enoby

FREEZING!

At least we sort of see how cold it is here—everyone’s breath is billowing everywhere.

This was a particular cold night for me (Brian) because I was filming it, standing beyond knee-deep in the snow, which, even with my boots, got really cold, really fast.

What was lucky was that we could dash into the house at any time to warm up. Otherwise, it would have been a very cranky shoot.

2. Episode 2: Enoby and Tom Outdoors

The crew couldn’t complain TOO MUCH about this scene: we were dressed for the cold. I felt like my feet were going to fall off, but seriously, we were fine.

Justine and Nick, though, were in their costumes, in little thin jackets.

These shots took longer to get as well, as dog-walkers and strollers were in the park with us (the perils of guerilla filmmaking!) and loved to walk into shot.

Justine and Nick soldiered on, and didn’t complain at all. It was only after the scene was finished, and we ran into a Starbucks to warm up that we saw how cold they were.

Very cold.

In fact, this spot would have taken Number One, if it weren’t for…

1. Episode 7: Outside with Harry and Draco

Coldest. Shoot.

This wasn’t even the coldest day.

The coldest day I can think of was when we shot the house party in Episode 3—luckily, that was indoors.

This was outside, with a skeleton crew. No one else could make that day for shooting, so it was Eli (Draco), Joseph (Harry), plus me crouching out of shot with the microphone, and Sheldon on camera. Lara (our makeup artist and also the Slytherin Girl) was inside, watching through the glass door.

This was the first outdoor scene we shot of Season 2, and I think that’s what got us through it—it was windy as heck too, and I was terrified the lights would fall over.

Then of course, we’re watching the footage, and I think it was Lara who said, “It doesn’t even LOOK that cold!”

We lit it with a red light in addition to the studio light—maybe that’s what did it?

Bonus: The fight between Hermione and the Queen Of Cups was supposed to take place outdoors in a “snowy courtyard”. When I wrote the script, I’d been expecting the gentle winters Toronto usually had—
(I went to university in Ottawa, where winters meant a punch in the gut and nine feet of snow on the streets, so Toronto felt like a vacation when I moved here).

The day we had scheduled to film it turned out to be something like -40 degrees celsius or something insane, so we changed it to be indoors. It turned out pretty well!

Anonymous said: By the way, have you guys ever heard of the Twilight fanfiction called "Brewdening Love"? I feel like, as fans of My Immortal, you would love this one too.

I spent a few hours looking through the TV Tropes lore of that one, actually, and one of our fans, Talys, has written about a lot of good stuff about it.

It’s got the same fascinating look into the psyche of the author as My Immortal, but it’s harder to get through, because oh man. My Immortal goes down smooth in comparison.
